We picked out and even paid for the ring together - I know, sacrilege!!! We had been discussing marriage for a while and knew from early on we wanted to be together but were both a little gun-shy. When he instigating ring shopping one day, we both went with the impression that we would see what we both liked and go from there. I wasn't expecting an engagement to come soon but we ended up finding a ring that we both loved and had a conversation later that night that lead to our official engagement. No formal proposal, no fanfare, but it was perfect and 100% us.
